As presented at the closing presentation ("An update from the Board") at the Autumn 2024 euroCRIS membership meeting at INRAE in Paris yesterday, two current euroCRIS Board members will step down at the end of this year. As a consequence, candidacies for the new Board 2025/2026 are being sought among euroCRIS members. In order to submit your application, please email eurocris [at] eurocris.org before EOB on Fri Dec 6th.
A form is available for the online voting process to choose the eleven members for the Advisory Board for OpenAlex. With a few names from the research information management community featured among the 50+ candidates for the Board, euroCRIS members (and the wider RIM community) are encouraged to take part in the voting process.
On Nov 18th, 2024 the special issue of Procedia Computer Science was published containing the proceedings for the CRIS2024 conference held at TU Wien last May. 33 papers have been published in these CRIS2024 proceedings, which for the first time in euroCRIS history are divided into sections.
The final programme for the Nov 26-28 euroCRIS Strategic Membership Meeting in Paris is already available on the event website. As usual in these Autumn SMMs, the programme includes a national session, a strategic parner session and numerous contributions from euroCRIS members. This year's Autumn meeting programme will also see the launch of the AI4CRIS WG.
The camera-ready papers for the CRIS2024 conference proceedings have now entered the production stage. The first notifications for authors to complete the Rights & Access form that will allow them to select the licence for their published CRIS2024 conference papers were sent out to authors as of Nov 9th, 2024. The advice from euroCRIS is for all authors to select a CC BY 4.0 licence for their papers on that Rights & Access form.
The 20th International Open Repositories Conference (OR2025) will be held June 15-18, 2025 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The theme for the conference is "Twenty Years of Progress, a Future of Possibilities". An OR2025 CfP is already available online, please check the link for the themes and submission categories for this conference. The deadline for submissions is December 18, 2024.
The following call for tenders for the "Implementation of a Research Information Management System (CRIS) to Reinforce the Administrative Management Workflows at Public Universities [in Peru]" was published (in Spanish language) on Sep 20th by the Unit 118 of the Peruvian Ministry of Education. The call for tenders is open until 31 Oct 2024.
The preliminary programme for the Nov 26-28 Strategic Membership Meeting at INRAE in Paris is already available. Registration for the event is free for paying euroCRIS members (as of the 2024 membership), euroCRIS Strategic Partners and sponsors and event speakers, but there is a mandatory fee for the official dinner. Please note that this meeting will have a maximum capacity of 80 attendees due to venue constraints.
The first conference on the Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information took place in Paris on Sep 23–24. The euroCRIS President Jan Dvořák was among the approx 80 on-site participants. Representatives of institutions, funders, national bodies, and research information e-infrastructures were all present and shared their views on the DORI initiative.
Following the fruitful discussions held at the CRIS2024 conference session devoted to Artificial Intelligence and CRIS systems last May, a group of participants in that session have launched the AI4CRIS working group. AI4CRIS is to focus on focused on leveraging Artificial Intelligence to enhance Current Research Information Systems (CRIS).
