As a non-profit, member-based organisation, euroCRIS relies first and foremost on the annual membership fees paid by its members, both institutional and personal. In order to be able to keep these fees as affordable as possible, euroCRIS also takes on sponsorships from external organisations involved in research information management. The combination of the membership fees and the sponsorships allow euroCRIS to run its activities (mostly for free) and to hold its events on the basis of largely symbolic registration fees.
This page provides the information on euroCRIS sponsorship.
There are two main ways to sponsor euroCRIS: a general sponsorship, involving an annual sponsorship fee, and an event-based sponsorship, whereby external stakeholders are able to sponsor specific aspects of euroCRIS membership meetings and conferences. The membership meetings are usually held twice a year, with a Spring and an Autumn edition, while the CRIS conferences are organised every two years, with a forthcoming CRIS2024 to be held May 15-17, 2024 in Vienna, Austria later this year. All these events are held as on-site-only meetings, so that the ability of the research information management community to interact is maximised.
General sponsorship
By sponsoring euroCRIS, external organisations may:
- Reach an expected target audience of 250-300 euroCRIS members and event attendees;
- Increase international visibility for your organisation’s products and services;
- Gain access to academic expertise on CRIS systems, including use cases for specific software solutions;
- Become recognised as a supporter of euroCRIS, an international organisation on research information systems
euroCRIS offers two general sponsorship tiers: a gold general sponsorship for large organisations, and a silver sponsorship for smaller ones. The gold sponsorship involves an annual contribution of €10,000, while the silver one amounts to €2,500 a year. These general sponsorships typically cover a natural year from January to December and come with a number of benefits to the sponsors, among them:
- Free access to euroCRIS meetings and conferences for up to three representatives for on-site events, including the official conference dinner. For virtual events, access for up to five representatives if the event is paid;
- A presentation slot during (plenary) Business Sessions at euroCRIS events;
- The opportunity to share news about the sponsor's research information management products with the euroCRIS community through the 'News from our Sponsors' channel of euroCRIS;
- The exposure of the sponsor's logo on the euroCRIS website and in the documentation material for euroCRIS membership meetings and CRIS conferences;
- The arrangement of a booth at euroCRIS events for distributing promotional material;
- The collaboration between euroCRIS and the sponsor to collect an up-to-date snapshot of their CRIS platforms' implementation in the Directory of Research Information Systems (DRIS);
- The prioritisation of the sponsor when euroCRIS submits proposals for funded projects in which vendors may be included as project partners (such was for instance the case for the 2018 METIS2OpenAIRE project);
- The prioritisation of the sponsor for the purpose of carrying out specific technical collaboration activities with CRIS vendors. For example, within the current effort to implement the OpenAIRE Guidelines for CRIS managers, euroCRIS will be available to provide first-hand expertise on the area to the sponsor;
- euroCRIS will act as a mediator between the Research Information Management community and the sponsor, informally letting the latter know about any issues that may be raised with regard to the operation of the CRIS system (typically regarding system interoperability or perceived shortcomings around customer service) and offering the sponsor a place at any potential discussion forum that euroCRIS establishes to address such issues.
Event sponsorship
Other than the general sponsorship, there is also the possibility of sponsoring specific areas of euroCRIS membership meetings and conferences. These include official dinners, lunches, coffee breaks and/or welcome receptions. Given that the venues for euroCRIS events use to rotate across Europe, event sponsorship is usually pursued by local vendors and stakeholders who want to make themselves visible to the audience in a specific geographic place. The event sponsorship also includes a 'general sponsorship' category. A form is usually made available before specific events for interested stakeholders to request a membership meeting or conference sponsorship (please contact eurocris [at] eurocris.org if the linked form from this webpage were out of date).
