The INST-DSpace project was officially kicked-off on Mon Feb 9th with an online meeting of the project team partners (euroCRIS,4Science and the Technical University of Hamburg). An INST-DSpace project page has now been made available on the euroCRIS website to keep the research information management community up to date on the project progress.
The Programme Committee for the CRIS2026 Conference Azores has decided to extend the original Feb 7th deadline for CRIS2026 submissions to Feb 15th. This is a response to the messages received from several members of the euroCRIS community asking for a few more days to prepare their CRIS2026 submissions. The call for proposals has subsequently been updated on both the euroCRIS and the CRIS2026 conference websites.
As of early Feb 2026 it is now possible for group registrations for the CRIS2026 Conference Azores to be processed. The information on the rates, discounts and early bird period is already available on the event website. Please email your expressions of interest for registering three or more representatives from the same institution to eurocris [at] eurocris.org and our Treasurer will issue an invoice.
The euroCRIS Board is sad to report that euroCRIS funder and Honorary President Keith Jeffery passed away on Jan 15th, 2026. Not only did he conjure the whole new discipline of research information management decades before anyone dreamed of using a term like "research graph", he also kept supporting the evolution of the organisation he had helped create way beyond his stepping down as its founding President in 2012.
The French-language book "Research Information Systems: Evaluation, Performance and Responsibility" ("Les systèmes d’information sur la recherche: Évaluation, performance et responsabilité") was published in January by the London-based ISTE Group. The short book is coauthored by euroCRIS Board member Joachim Schöpfel and prolific contributor to euroCRIS events Otmane Azeroual at the Uiversity of Hagen in Germany.
Following the successful 4th CERIF surgery held on Thu Jan 15th, the leads for the refactored CERIF Jan Dvořák and Dragan Ivanović have scheduled a new one at 2pm CET on Thu Jan 29th. This 5th online discussion will focus on the modelling of instruments and facilities in the refactored CERIF.
The euroCRIS-led INST-DSpace project to add instruments and facilities to an expanded DSpace-CRIS data model has been awarded funding by the Vietsch Foundation. The project will involve a collaboration between euroCRIS and 4Science to model the equipment entity in CERIF so that instruments and facilities can be added to the snapshot for the institutional research activity.
The Autumn 2026 euroCRIS Strategic Membership Meeting (SMM2026) will be held Nov 24-26 at Tecnalia in San Sebastian, Spain. A call for proposals for the event will be released in the summer.
euroCRIS is pleased to welcome the German OSIRIS Solutions GmbH as a new general euroCRIS sponsor as of 1 January 2026. The OSIRIS open source CRIS solution is currently implemented at several research centres in Germany – such as the Leibniz Institute DSMZ-German Collection of Microorganisms and Cell Cultures GmbH.
The event website for the 17th International Conference on Current Research Information Systems (CRIS2026) to be held May 20-22 at the University of the Azores is already available online. The CRIS2026 CfP with a Feb 7th deadline for submissions is included in the website. Several other sections are still under construction and will remain so until a preliminary programme is available.
