KFiD presentation at 7th German VIVO WS

The presentation "New developments and offerings around the KDSF standard" delivered by euroCRIS Board member Sophie Biesenbender at the Sep 24-25 7th VIVO Workshop in Hannover is already available in the euroCRIS repository. The (German-language) presentation provides an update on recent developments at the German Commission for Research Information (KFiD). These include version 2 of the German KDSF standard (Research Core Data Set) for research information management and the FIS Landkarte project to produce an up-to-date snapshot of the institutional CRIS infrastructure at German universities and research centres.

Article on CRIS systems in Ar(abes)ques

The article "Outils et circulation des données en Europe: état des lieux par le consortium euroCRIS" has been published in issue 118 of the Arabesques journal (Oct-Dec 2025). This issue brings together the full-text papers arising from the event 'Journées d’étude de l’Abes 2025' held in Montpellier in May this year. The article on CRIS, which examines the features of these systems and explores a number of case studies for national CRIS in Europe, was written by euroCRIS Board member Joachim Schöpfel in collaboration with the euroCRIS Technical Secretary Pablo de Castro.

Registration for SMM2025 İzmir opens

The registration for the forthcoming Autumn 2025 euroCRIS strategic membership meeting (SMM2025) to be held Nov 25-27 at the İzmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH) in Urla/İzmir opened at the beginning of October. The registration page is linked from the SMM2025 event website. Registration for this meeting is free for local attendees coming from Turkish institutions as well as – as usual – for euroCRIS members, sponsors and strategic partrners. We are currently working on the event programme, for which there is already a draft on the SMM2025 website. The plan is to finalise the programme once the currently open call for proposals from euroCRIS members closes as of Oct 15th.

Dates for further online CERIF surgeries

Following a successful 90-min first online CERIF surgery held on Wed Sep 25th, the session hosts (CERIF leads at euroCRIS Jan Dvořák and Dragan Ivanović) and attendees (representatives from the PRC regional CRIS in Catalonia, the CRISalid project in France and the Universities of Bielefeld and Vienna) agreed it made sense to schedule further sessions to offer the euroCRIS membership an opportunity to discuss the way the CERIF standard is evolving. The next CERIF surgeries will be held at 2pm CET on Thu Oct 30th and Thu Dec 4th. The informal procedure for registration for anyone not having attended the fist session is the same one that was applied for the Sep 25th surgery, i.e. dropping a line to eurocris [at] eurocris.org expressing an interest to attend.

Norwegian National Research Information Repository (NVA) launched

On Wed Oct 1st the Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research (Sikt) launched the Nasjonalt vitenarkiv (NVA), the Norwegian Research Information Repository, after approximately seven years of planning, design, testing, and collaboration across Norwegian research institutions. There are approximately 170 institutions in production.

First online CERIF surgery

A first CERIF surgery will be held online at 2pm CEST on Thu Sep 25th to discuss the evolution of the Common European Research Information Format with euroCRIS members interested in knowing more about how the standard is currently being refactored. This first 1-hr session will be hosted by Jan Dvořák and Dragan Ivanović, the two euroCRIS leads for the CERIF Refactoring project. Jan and Dragan will answer any questions live that attendees may have on specific features of the "new CERIF".

Call for proposals SMM2025 Izmir

A call for proposals for the forthcoming Autumn 2025 euroCRIS Strategic Membership Meeting has now been released. The CfP welcomes contributions from euroCRIS members to the programme of this Nov 25-27 euroCRIS meeting at the Izmir Institute of Technology. The deadline for submissions is 15 Oct 2025 and proposals should be submitted to eurocris [at] eurocris.org.

New euroCRIS Admin Secretary

As of 1 Sep 2025 Yus Broersma has joined euroCRIS as Administrative Secretary. Yus is based at the Radboud University Nijmegen and replaces former Admin Secretary Yvonne Cremers who has dutifully served euroCRIS over many years and has now retired. Yus will quickly become the default contact person for any admin query at euroCRIS and we look forward to having her support at forthcoming euroCRIS events.

Preliminary SMM2025 Izmir website available

A preliminary version of the event website for the forthcoming Autumn 2025 euroCRIS Strategic Membership Meeting to be held Nov 25-27, 2025 at the Izmir Technical University in Türkiye is already available. Work on the event programme is currently underway. A call for proposals for euroCRIS members is expected to be put out at the start of September.

"Open Science and Digital Platforms" presentation at UNJBG in Peru

An online dissemination session on "Open Science and Digital Platforms" will be delivered by the euroCRIS Technical Secretary on Aug 20th within the 4th International Symposium organised by the Vice Rectorate for Research at the Jorge Basadre Grohmann University in Tacna (Peru). The presentation will be streamlined and the slides will eventually be made available on the euroCRIS repository.
