Research projects constitute an important area for euroCRIS as a way to engage in a collaborative activity with other organisations. Throughout its history euroCRIS has taken part in numerous projects, both externally and internally funded. The list below presents some of the projects euroCRIS is currently involved in:
- INST-DSpace
Project website
Funding body: Vietsch Foundation
Start date: 1 Feb 2026
End date: Ongoing
Short description: The INST-DSpace project aims to expand the DSpace-CRIS data model so that instruments and facilities can be added to the institutional research graph and cross-linked to other research entities such as researchers, organisations, projects, publications, datasets, etc.
Project partners: euroCRIS (lead), 4Science, Technical University of Hamburg (TUHH)
Role of euroCRIS: As project coordinator, euroCRIS will work with 4Science in the modelling of instruments and facilities in a new DSpace-CRIS module that will then be tested on the upgraded euroCRIS DSpace-CRIS platform. At the same time, the best practice development the TUHH team have already carried out on their TORE institutional CRIS will be disseminated with the aim of having it eventually replicated at other institutions.
- CERIF2VIVO mapping
Project website
Funding body: Internally funded by euroCRIS and VIVO
Start date: 15 Dec 2021
End date: Ongoing
Short description: An early mapping between CERIF and VIVO was released back in 2013 for the purpose of promoting system interoperability. Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between euroCRIS and VIVO in July 2021, both organisations agreed it would make sense to update the mapping of the CERIF data model against the VIVO ontology. The ongoing work was recently presented at the May 12-14, 2022 CRIS2022 conference in Dubrovnik.
- FAIRCORE4EOSC (closed)
Project website
Funding body: European Open Science Cloud/European Commission
Start date: 1 Jun 2022
End date: 31 May 2025
Short description: The FAIRCORE4EOSC project focuses on the development and realisation of core components for the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). Supporting a FAIR EOSC and addressing gaps identified in the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA). Leveraging existing technologies and services, the project will develop nine new EOSC-Core components aimed to improve the discoverability and interoperability of an increased amount of research outputs.
Role of euroCRIS: euroCRIS is represented in the FAIRCORE4EOSC Advisory Board
