As from February 1, 2016 the DANS-archive – as one of the first archives in the world - holds the NESTOR-seal for Trustworthy Digital Archives.
The NESTOR seal, based on the German DIN 31644-standard, consists of a complex and comprehensive set of 34 criteria that an archive has to comply with. Having received this seal means that the DANS-archive has achieved the Extended Level of Certification of trustworthiness according to the definition of the European Framework for Audit and Certification of Digital Repositories.
The DANS-archive acquired the basic level of certification, the Data Seal of Approval, already in 2011.
