The eFIS project on Ethical Requirements for Research Information Systems is one of the six projects that have been awarded funding within the call issued by the German Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) in 2025. Led from the Distance University in Hagen, the eFIS project seeks to investigate the ethical requirements of institutional CRIS. Particular attention will be devoted to issues such as transparency, fairness, data protection, and the responsible use of metrics. These aspects are crucial for the successful implementation, acceptance, and ethically sound operation of such systems.

The eFIS project results will be shared at open community forums like the NRW.CRIS und the euroCRIS networks, to ensure the knowledge transfer and the awareness of such ethical requirements within the wider Research Information Management community.
