Seminars
Up to the year 2013, euroCRIS held yearly Strategic Seminars in Brussels in September. These seminars, from the year 2014 on, have now been integrated into the Strategic Members Meetings of euroCRIS, which take place in November. Below you find reports from the past Seminars.

Seminar 9-10 September 2013 - Brussels There is a recent strong interest with many communities considering how best to manage their research information (RI). For strategic management, but also for evaluation, knowledge and technology transfer, RI management is an essential requirement. Increasingly, the research output system beyond research publications is broadened towards research products such as datasets and software and expanding to research outcomes and impact. Research Information Systems (CRISs) and in particular CERIF are increasingly recognised as a powerful means with respect to advanced metadata management. euroCRIS has developed inter-conversion services to/from CERIF with the most-used metadata standards reinforcing the position of CERIF as an interoperation standard for RI and CRISs. Nonetheless there is room for the evolution of CERIF to meet new emerging requirements. The aim of this euroCRIS Strategic Seminar is to convene key stakeholders and discuss the needs and forthcoming challenges in this context.. Seminar 10-11 September 2012 Brussels The EC has published its intentions for an ambitious programma of R&D to 2020. It brings together the various pre-existing programmes such as the Framework Programme, Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, European Research Council, and the European Institute for Innovation and Technology. There are linkages to other programmes and to structural funds. We explore what this means to CRIS (Current Research Information management systems) and how we meet the challenges. Seminar 12-13 September 2011 Brussels For more than ten years CRIS and Repositories have provided access to output of research (scholarly work and research data). It is now time to review the current architecture used and to analyse their advantages and disadvantages. This seminar will focus on the use of CRIS and Repositories for research information management and approach this topic from various perspectives: metadata; experience (ongoing projects); visions; output, outcomes and impact; architecture (integration). Seminar 13-14 September 2010 Brussels More than ever evaluation of research is becoming important. It is in the interest of everyone that the information is accurate, that the evaluation methods are reliable and that the indicators used are representative. This seminar will bring together experts covering these topics to debate the merits of various approaches and hopefully to converge in a way forward. Seminar 14-15 September 2009 Brussels The background of this year's theme is that both nationally and internationally there is a lot of information from research activities, but it is fragmented, varies in quality/structure and is not easy to get at. Seminar 15-16 September 2008 Brussels In the previous seminars the following topics have been covered: CRIS + ERA; CRIS + repositories (OA/GRIDs); CRIS + process / GRIDs; CRIS + Innovation; CRIS + e-Infrastructure. The theme for the coming seminar is a CRIS as the mechanism for providing a homogeneous view over repositories, administrative systems (finance, HR, project management) and simultaneously act as the control of workflow and the source for internal (to control systems) and external (view to the world) directories. In other words: CRIS: the strategic centre of the business (in any organisation concerned with research and development).

|
Seminar 17-18 September 2007 Brussels The previous seminars covered the importance of Research Information (CRIS) for the ERA, the relationship of CRIS and Open Access, the relationship of CRIS and the Research Process, and - the last one - CRIS as a strategic tool for supporting innovation. This seminar will focus on CRIS and e-infrastructure. Click here to get a list of the presentations and documents presented at the seminar: Presentations seminar 2007

CRIS2024 Vienna
The 16th International Conference on Current Research Information Systems (CRIS2024) was held May 15-17, 2024 at the Technical University of Vienna (TU Wien) in Austria. Jointly organised by euroCRIS, the RIS Synergy project, TU Wien and Universität Wien, the event saw a significant growth in participation with regard to the previous CRIS2022 Conference in Dubrovnik -- some figures for CRIS2024 are shown in the slide below delivered by the euroCRIS President Jan Dvořák in the course of his "Update from the Board" presentation at the closing of the event on Fri May 17th, 2024. All presentations delivered during the conference are available in the euroCRIS repository and the process for publishing a selection of them in the CRIS2024 proceedings is already underway.
CRIS2022 Dubrovnik
The 15th International Conference on Current Research Information Systems (CRIS2022) was held May 12-14, 2022 at the Hotel Dubrovnik Palace in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Organised by euroCRIS in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia (MSE) and with the help of University Computing Centre, University of Zagreb (SRCE), the CRIS2022 Conference meant a return to in-person euroCRIS events after the long hiatus caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dublin Membership Meeting, May 2017
euroCRIS, in cooperation with the Dublin Institute of Technology, held its
Spring 2017 Membership Meeting of euroCRIS
in Dublin, the capital of Ireland,
29th-31st of May 2017
The theme for the meeting:
The Position of CRISs Today
The CRIS-domain is a very dynamic one, continuously in motion. Since their start more than two decades ago, as merely adminstrative reporting systems, a lot has happened and CRISs, in reaction to the rapid developments in the research information domain, have undergone a substantial transformation towards mutlifunctional information systems, significantly expanding in scope and rendering a variety of services to a growing group of stakeholders. Given this ongoing dynamics of CRIS systems it is good to, once every couple of years, come together to make up an inventory and share information on the state of the art and the developments going on regarding CRISs within the international research information community. The euroCRIS Membership Meeting in Dublin is meant to present such an occasion and is therefore both an opportunity for and an invitation to the international CRIS-community to report on developments going on within their respective countries, institutions or disciplnes. So please feel encouraged to send in your proposals for presentation.

Welcome Reception: euroCRIS will offer you a welcome reception at the National Hellenic Research Foundation atrium on Tuesday November 8th, starting at 19.00 h.
Strategic Membership Meetings may be regarded as a combination of a Strategic Seminar and a regular Membership Meeting. During this meeting the accent is on discussion and exchange of ideas with both our Strategic Partners and Members.
The goal of the event is not only the exchange of information and ideas but more so, the exploration of possible concrete joint actions and projects towards the realisation of an improvement of the research information landscape, based on international standards. Of course, from the point of view of euroCRIS, the role CRIS and, in particular, CERIF can (and should) play in this respect will be a major focus of attention.
The central theme for the 2016 Strategic Membership Meeting is:
Towards optimal Research information Infrastructures on a national and international level.
What uses for which stakeholders? Through which collaboration(s), by which building blocks?
With special attention for: The road to a European Research Information Infrastructure.
We may be farther along this road than we realize (if we jointly grasp the present opportunities).
What can be learned from ongoing initiatives and collaborations within and outside of Europe?

Registration the event is mandatory, but free for euroCRIS members and local representatives. Non-members may also attend the meeting for a fee of 60 euros. With this fee they will automatically get a personal membership until January 1, 2017. Registration will close on November 1st, 2016.
