The EC has published its intentions for an ambitious programma of R&D to 2020. It brings together the various pre-existing programmes such as the Framework Programme, Competitiveness and Innovation Programme, European Research Council, and the European Institute for Innovation and Technology. There are linkages to other programmes and to structural funds. We explore what this means to CRIS (Current Research Information management systems) and how we meet the challenges.
For more than ten years CRIS and Repositories have provided access to output of research (scholarly work and research data). It is now time to review the current architecture used and to analyse their advantages and disadvantages. This seminar will focus on the use of CRIS and Repositories for research information management and approach this topic from various perspectives: metadata; experience (ongoing projects); visions; output, outcomes and impact; architecture (integration).
More than ever evaluation of research is becoming important. It is in the interest of everyone that the information is accurate, that the evaluation methods are reliable and that the indicators used are representative. This seminar will bring together experts covering these topics to debate the merits of various approaches and hopefully to converge in a way forward.
Seminar 14-15 September 2009 Brussels
The background of this year's theme is that both nationally and internationally there is a lot of information from research activities, but it is fragmented, varies in quality/structure and is not easy to get at.
Seminar 15-16 September 2008 Brussels
CRIS: the strategic centre of the business
In the previous seminars the following topics have been covered: CRIS + ERA; CRIS + repositories (OA/GRIDs); CRIS + process / GRIDs; CRIS + Innovation; CRIS + e-Infrastructure. The theme for the coming seminar is a CRIS as the mechanism for providing a homogeneous view over repositories, administrative systems (finance, HR, project management) and simultaneously act as the control of workflow and the source for internal (to control systems) and external (view to the world) directories. In other words: CRIS: the strategic centre of the business (in any organisation concerned with research and development).
Seminar 17-18 September 2007 Brussels
CRIS and European e-infrastructure - enabling European research
The previous seminars covered the importance of Research Information (CRIS) for the ERA, the relationship of CRIS and Open Access, the relationship of CRIS and the Research Process, and - the last one - CRIS as a strategic tool for supporting innovation. This seminar will focus on CRIS and e-infrastructure.
Seminar 11-12 September 2006 Brussels
